In February Big City Mountaineers wrapped up an excellent year with the The Urban Family Gateway (UFG) program. UFG was made possible with a $90,000 collaboration grant from The Stewardship Council, a land conservation and youth investment program. From April 2009-February 2010, the program served over 740 family members on 73 weekend trips in Alameda County! Families participated in activities such as rock climbing, kayaking and service projects. The Stewardship Council is. BCM hopes to resume UFG programming this summer with long term funding.
One mother expressed her gratitude for the program by saying, “As a single working mom, my family cannot always experience these kinds of activities due to the time and energy it would take to organize such an outing. Not to mention the cost of such a trip.”
Just another reminder of how your support is tremendous!
